A season of giving

As December started it was the beginning of the holiday season.  At Lafferty we have been celebrating not only this Holiday season but celebrating our fifty anniversary as a dealership.  Fifty years ago on December 1st Lafferty opened it's door to the public.  Happy Birthday Lafferty Chevrolet!!!!

So how have we been celebrating...
In just the past 10 days at Lafferty Chevrolet we have:
  • Welcomed our new car owners at our new car clinic
  • Welcomed Willow Dale Elementary for a drive for education
  • CBS 3 stoped in for visit
  • Handed out free  admission to the Franklin Institute and it special exhibit Cleopatra
  • Been filling the Stocking for Kids box for the Salvation Army

  • Handed out 40$ gift certificates to all the women who test drove the Traverse
  • Handed out 5- $100 check during out ladies night out
  • We introduced you to the New Chevy Cruze
I would like to thank everyone for being part of the past fifty years at Lafferty.  I am sure we all have many stories we can tell.  I remember car shows and helping Dad sell hot dogs and pretzels.  I remember my first job cleaning the lots of cigarette butts, Welcoming Dale Earnhardt to the dealership to sign auto graphs...people were lined up all the way around the building, Earnhardt's #3 was on view in the showroom for a few days and I got to watch them bring in the car. I learned to drive stick shift out on Street Road.  I use to sell Girl Scout cookies to everyone, I had the oppurtunity to test drive many differt Chevy models.   I have been able to meet a lot of people; those who have been employed by Lafferty and those who have been customers.

So here is to another Fifty Years for Lafferty.  I wonder if in the next  fifty years we will have cars that fly...and I also wonder who is readying this, are you?

Help me celebrate 50 years at Lafferty Chevrolet

Nothing like a celebration.  If you think back at recent celebrations with friends and family, I am sure you talked about all kinds of memories.  That is the great thing about getting together with family and friends, you look back and laugh at all the good times and maybe even cry at the bad times.  On November 30th Lafferty will be celebrating 50 years since it opened the doors for the first time in Hatboro, PA.  Over the next few weeks I will be looking back at the past 50 years at Lafferty, looking at the cars we sell now and the ones we sold back then.  Email me your stories and pictures (laffertychevrolet@gmail.com) from the past 50 years as a Lafferty customer or employee and I will post them and share your stories with everyone.  Be a part of our celebration, it is because of you we are celebrating and we thank you for be a part of our history.

road side assistance

Recently I was watching TV and saw a commercial for Toyota and how they are offer roadside assistance when you purchase a new vehicle...they say "we're the only full-line brand to offer anything like it." Well lets take a look...

When I was in college I could not get my car started I was living in Rochester, NY at the time and I saw a label on my car with a number to call for roadside assistance from Chevy and I called them and they took care of me, please note I graduated from college 13 years ago.

So back to this commercial...this is Chevrolet's roadside assistance on a new vehicle taken from the Chevy website:

Roadside Assistance Program
Chevrolet is proud to offer the response, security and convenience of the 24-Hour Roadside Assistance Program for a period of 5 years or 100,000 miles/160,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. The program provides you with the following services during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period:
  • Emergency Towing (to closest Chevy dealer from a legal roadway)
  • Lockout Service (keys locked inside vehicle)
  • Flat Tire Changes (spare installed)
  • Fuel Delivery ($5 worth of fuel delivered on the road)
  • Jump-Starts (at home or on the road)
____________________________________________________

This is what Toyota is promoting on TV right now.  Information taken from their website:
For 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first, you and your new vehicle will be covered. It's complimentary peace of mind, and we're the only full-line brand to offer anything like it.

24-Hr. Roadside Assistance

Toyota Care features 24-hr. roadside assistance [3] for those days when you need a tire changed, or to have a door unlocked.
24-Hr. Roadside Assistance Covers:
  • Lockout protection
  • Flat tire changes
  • Jump starts
  • Fluid delivery
  • Towing for the unexpected
Well you tell me who has the better roadside assistance, Chevy has been offering roadside assistance for years and Toyota says they are the only ones offering anything like it.  Yea that is right you Toyota no one is offer anything like it...

I grew up in the car business

Someone asked me the other day whether I stated that I am Jack Lafferty's daughter, I did in my first blog.  They wondered if it is a good thing or not, to be honest I think it is a great thing.  I have driven so many different vehicles new and used, Chevy and non Chevy.  I know what I want in a car and Chevy's got what I need.  Currently I am driving a Chevrolet Malibu, I think it is a posh looking car, the drive is awesome, the seats are comfortable, it offers me remote start, heated seats, XM radio and room for my family to also feel comfortable, it take the bumps in the road great and you can't beat the price.  Please feel free to ask me any questions, but as a disclaimer I don't always no what goes on under the hood...I am a mom and I look at a car totally different than my husband.  He loves to know what goes on under the hood.

Test driving the new Chevy Cruze

Yesterday I spent some time at Lafferty Chevrolet.  I talked to some of the sales force and test drove the new Chevy Cruze.  The Cruze is a great new addition to the Chevy Family.  It is a 4 door compact car that is going to give the Honda Civic a run for the money.  The first placed I looked at in the car was the trunk space, I need room to put all my groceries and the Cruze had a lot to offer.  The back seats also folded down even in the basic model.  I liked the new feature of the push button to drop the seats down, very nicely done Chevy.  As I toured the front of the car I liked they way everything was set up.  The seats were very comfortable, and leg room in the front was not a problem, even for tall people.  All the controls were easily accessible and looked great.  I took the car out for a spin...a smooth and quiet drive. Bumps in the road didn't make the car shake.  I was told by my brother Jack that Chevy added a lot of insulation to make the drive so quiet.  Well done again Chevy, loved the quietness.

Below are some of the features i liked:
Bluetooth technology
Available USB Port
Xm Radio
Two six speed transmission
Ten airbags
Remote Control...use your smartphone with the OnStar Mylink and lock or unlock you car, cool down your car or heat it up from virtually anywhere
36 miles to the gallon on highway
8 Colors to choose from
Drop down back seats
The Cruze Eco will give you 40mpg on Highway
Power windows in all models
A great price

If you are looking for a small car, do give the Cruze a look I think you will be very surprised at what it has to offer.  Stop down at Lafferty Chevrolet and take a test drive today and let me know what you think...

October is Truck Month at Lafferty Chevrolet

I have always liked trucks, before i could drive i wanted a truck.  I wanted something like the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD LTZ Extended Cab.  I liked the short bed and bench in the back, and that it looked sporty compaired to the full size Silverado.  When i was in college i lived in Rochester, NY and I got a S-10 extended cab for the winter to demo.  I got to order one in just for me...it was Silver and Purple, and I loved  it. I wonder if i can find that truck today and buy it from the owner :)  Trucks are great though...the Chevy Tahoe is a beutiful truck to drive and if you need a little more room move up to the Suburban.  Now a days you are seeing more of the cross over vehicals, which are great!! But there is nothing like the power of a Chevy Truck.  So what is the biggest truck i have driven...a 17Foot Grummen for a dealer trade.  Did i mention i am only 5'2, i picked up the grumman on a dealer trade and the sales man jsut looked at me.  He kept asking me if I knew what i was pick up, Is said i sure do!  THe month is moving fast so stop in and test drive a truck to see for yourself the power Chevy has.

What was your first car?

When I began to drive I drove many cars at the dealership. I would drive them for 6,000 miles and then I would return them for a new one...as I have gotten older I think was a bad habit...I love new cars now.  My husdband says I can't keep a car for more than 3 year, I will tell you about that more later.  When I got married I was told it was time to buy my first car.  So in the summer of 1997 I bought a New Geo Prizm, it was dark teal, a manual and four doors.  It was great on gas.  I owned this vehical till 1999 when my son, Karl was born.  I was no longer interested in the maual feature. Years later I got to see my first car again.  The couple who bought it from Lafferty Chevrolet was trading it in for a new car.   I wonder what they bought next???

The Geo Prizm was a joint venture with Toyota.  They started producing the car in 1998 as a replacement for the Chevy Nova.  It was an entry level compact car, production of this vehical ended in 2002.  The Geo Prism was manufactured in Fremont, California at the NUMMI plant (New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc)

Just the beginning

I have always told my friends, if you want to go drive cars call me and we will take any car out for a drive and maybe even do lunch...I have had one person take me up on the offer.  So this begins my story...I grew up a Chevy girl and forever will be.  My Grandfather started Lafferty Chevrolet 50 years ago and no my Dad, Jack Lafferty is the owner.  I have driven many Chevy's since i learned to drive roughly 20 years ago.  They are a great american car and little do people realize all the things Cherolet and GM have brought to the car market...stay tuned as i go driving cars...
